These accreditations bear witness of our investments in technology and state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment equipment. Our healthcare professionals have a vast experience in delivering healthcare to our patients in accordance with the international guidelines and protocols.

We are also recognized for our results in patients treated in particular using minimally-invasive surgery (laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery performed with the DaVinci xi robot).

At the Ponderas Academic Hospital, we believe and invest in technology. Thus, we use the most advanced robotic surgery system in the world – the da Vinci Xi Surgical Robot, as well as the H2 2D and 3D laparoscopic system. This helps us perform a wide range of minimally-invasive robotic surgeries in the following areas: oncological surgery, digestive, urological, gynecological and thoracic surgery, ENT and pediatric surgery.

Our surgeons have performed more than 1,100 robotic surgeries and have operated on over 30,600 patients using minimally-invasive surgery.

An integrated oncological approach at the Ponderas Academic Hospital
At the Ponderas Academic Hospital, cancer patients are treated by an integrated, multidisciplinary team comprised of an oncologist, surgeon, collaborator radiotherapists, anatomic pathology doctor, imaging doctor, nutritionist, psychologist, and a doctor having the right specialization for the tumor location. The psychologist uses questionnaires to understand the state of anxiety or depression resulting from the diagnosis, and intervenes with psychotherapy if needed.
The medical oncology department has a capacity of 10 patients concomitantly, i.e. 200 patients per month, and is equipped with 8 chemotherapy chairs and 2 beds.
The integrated breast cancer diagnosis and treatment center offers advantages for the doctors, who can exchange information quickly and apply the same medical standards and protocols, but most importantly for the patients. Thus, the female patients have access to all the required services in the same place, and know exactly what they need to do next.
The multidisciplinary team includes doctors specializing in the treatment of breast pathologies. All of them together – oncologist, surgeon, imaging doctor, anatomic pathology doctor, plastic surgeon, radiotherapist and gynecologist – decide on the best therapeutic course and approach for the patient, based on international recommendations and standards, but customized for each and every female patient. A psychologist and kinesitherapist are also part of the team.

The first autologous therapy of a Romanian child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders took place in 2018. He returned to the country together with his family, after undergoing therapy with stem cells from his own umbilical cord blood. The treatment took place at the Duke University Medical Center (SUA).

In 2019, another child with autism will benefit from therapy with stem cells stored at the REGINA MARIA Central Stem Cell Bank, also at Duke University. The novelty in this case is that the therapy will be delivered using stem cells from his brother.
